The Ballet of the Saarländisches Staatstheater has been under the direction of Marguerite Donlon since 2001. Donlon's enigmatic style, Irish humour and use of different art forms, together with her esteemed international dancers of the highest technical and artistic levels, have established the Donlon Dance Company as one of the most innovative companies in Europe.
Collaboration with other genres has led DDC to fuse their skills with composers (Sam Auinger, Claas Willeke), visual artists (Stoll/Wachall) and stage designers (Conor Murphy, Cecile Bouchier) to name but a few. In addition to Donlon’s own work, the dancers enjoy the opportunity to work with other leading international choreographers such as Ji?í Kylián, Constanza Macras, Christian Spuck and Helena Waldmann. An important aspect of DDC is to nurture emerging artists to develop their skills in their chosen medium. "SubsTanz" an evening of dance, video and surprise has been the on going result of this support.
